Dante's memory is shared by the city that exiled him and the city that became his final resting place.
Florence holds Dante's origins and many of the monuments through which the city remembers him. Ravenna holds his tomb and the physical memory of his final years.
The contrast gives the project its central visual language: departure and return, exile and belonging, Florence and Ravenna.
The proposed return is cultural rather than merely geographic. It asks what it means for a city to reclaim, honor and continually reinterpret one of its most consequential voices.
The archive behind the project
The original single-page work remains part of the story.
Before this redesign, the Divine Comedy was presented as one extensive HTML page. That work is preserved intact and is now connected to the Return narrative.
